The last few nights I have been sleeping outside of a settlement called Rainbow Dreams, I've spent most of my days foraging for food and chopping wood for the night. I feel very safe near this small settlement since they have guards posted nearby all day and all night. I think I have gotten too comfortable though, today I realized I am no closer to my dream, Owning my own land. Building my own settlement on the Western Xanadu coastline, I want to farm my own fields, build my own walls, create my own laws. One day I would love to be able to help others through this harsh world and give them a place to call home. I don't think anyone should have to struggle for as long as I have.
The morning came very early today, I was up and drinking from the ocean water before the sun was up. Although the morning began with rain, I decided today was the day that I will continue my journey to find a place I could call home. I quickly packed up my tent and put out my campfire and waved one last goodbye to the safety of the settlement known as, Rainbow Dreams.
As I headed West along the coastal path, I heard birds singing beautifully, geese honking rhythmically, and the waves hitting the shore harmoniously, I felt an overwhelming sense of positivity.
"Today will be a wonderful day and I won't let anything stand in my way" I told myself.
Further down the path I realized, there was no path..I guess I will be roughing it from here, maybe this is a sign of less people and more land? I thought hopefully. I quickly realized this was not the case as I came apon another path with an aged hell hound waiting for me. I saw an iron gate about 100 yards ahead at another nearby deed and decided to run to the gate so if the hound chased me I could go inside for safety.
The aged hell hound growls as I run past and I pick up my pace and then slam into the iron gate, it's locked! I look behind me in fear expecting to see the hell hound hot on my trail but in a turn of luck I see that a Spirit Templar has jumped into action and has taken the attention of the demonic looking creature. I decided to wait till the battle was over and butcher the hell hound, but to my surprise the hound defeated the Templar.
I turn back west and head down the rough cobblestone road. Up ahead I spot a pile of troll corpses, maybe the owner of the deed put these here to warn travelers? As I come walking past the pile of bodies a black wolf jumps out from behind one of the dead trolls! He growls and me and bites in my direction, I quickly turn around and run shouting for help and thankfully town guards from the nearby settlement came to save the day, they quickly slayed the old wolf and once they were done they made it clear that all the nearby animals dead or alive belong to the village of Wyverns Crest. I thanked them for the help and headed back west down the old rough path. The further I went the more worried I got, but I knew I had to continue on if I was going to find a place to call home.
I find an aged pig just a bit up the road and just as I have done in the past I made a quick collar for him and pulled him behind me blatantly ignoring the warning from Wyverns Crest town guards. Nearby the pig I also found a old hen and decided to test my short sword for the first time. I stabbed the hen with my blade killing it in one blow, I butchered the animal and got some really good looking meat, I think i'm getting better at this.
Further down the road there was a path leading up the hill away from the coast, curious I took a big drink from the ocean and headed up the seemingly random path. I find an old pheasant and decided to attack it as well, he was quicker and put up a much better fight than the hen, leaving light holes and bite marks all over my body, I was in quite a bit of pain. Eventually I had to step back from the pheasant worried I would pass out if I started bleeding any more than I already was.
I rested up for a bit and decided to have another go at the old pheasant. This time I was able to end it with just a few blows. I butchered the animal and was able to harvest a fair bit of meat. After this I looked around and decided this may be the best spot I will find to stay for the night. High ground, trees nearby, the water is very close, and I have plenty of space. Yes! this will be a great place to stay for the night.
After I drop my tent by a nearby abandoned looking hut I start chopping away at the closest tree so that I could cut some firewood. As I worked on the wood I looked around at the dense forest around me without a soul in sight and I realize, this is it, this is the place I have been looking for it has everything I need!
but wait, I haven't yet found iron here so I can't get too excited yet.
As my stomach growls a more present need comes to mind, I need to eat. After I got the fire started I realize I have a bit of meat in my bag but no herbs to go along with it so i decide to go foraging around the area for something that would go well with pheasant and hen. Nearby my fire pit I found a green mushroom covered in black spots, it was growing strong in the rocky dirt. I picked the mushroom and smelled it, the mushroom had a wonderful aroma that reminded me of my mothers wonderful cooking, oh how I missed her.
I decided to chop up the green mushroom and add it to my bowl of meat along with some sage I also found nearby. I placed the pottery bowl in the fire to cook my meal and sat down next to my new pig companion. I sort of like this one, he hasn't ran off on me or gotten killed yet. Maybe I should name him.... Ooh! my food is ready! I eat the whole bowl of hen-pheasant-mushroom casserole in less than a minute, Mmm it was delicious!
I felt very relaxed after my meal and continued to sit on the grass next to my new friend. As I looked up at the sky through the old trees I started to feel as though colors were getting brighter. The sky was a vivid cool blue and the leaves of the trees seemed intensely green. It was almost as if I could feel the colors in front of me. Looking down at my hands I notice my skin is a very bright pink and I can see the veins in my arm pulsing with a powerful purple color. Starting to wonder if i'm dreaming I look over at my pig friend and had to do a double take, my pig was blood red! Was that mushroom poisonous!? Am I losing my mind? As these thoughts crossed my mind a warm relaxing feeling of euphoria filled my body. I lay back on the grass, it felt soft as if I were floating on a cloud. I feel weak as my vision fills with stunning swirling colors....
