"Wake up you bum!"
Opening my eyes I see a town guard hovering over me.
"Are you daft? Get out of here boy!"
I look around, realizing I had fallen asleep right outside the Glasshollow town market, in the middle of town.
It all started coming back to me, the events of last night, the death of my new friend. I had fallen asleep next to my deceased companion, but where is his body? He's missing!
"Do I need to drag you out of this town?!"
Embarrassed, that I was being yelled at by the guard in the middle of town I got up without saying a word. Heading towards the town gate the guard followed behind me to ensure my exit. Today was again filled with grey skies and rain, again reminding me of the horrible night before, What happened to the dogs body?
I realize that it was about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, I couldn't believe I had slept so long. Knowing I don't have much daylight left, after I left the city walls, I immediately set off to the right which was the opposite direction I had gone my first day here.
Just my luck, about one mile up the road I see the same aged troll from the night before he's running down the path straight at me! My first instinct is to pull out my iron short sword and swing, I barley missed the beast. I scream for help, knowing I could not take on this challenge by myself. Just as quickly as the troll came, so did 5 town guards! They quickly sliced and slashed the monster to pieces.
The guards allowed me to butcher the troll and I was able harvest quite a bit of meat that I could eat later. I also took the trolls club as sort of a token. Continuing on the path I was getting deeper and deeper into a ceder forest. Soon I came apon a building with a sign out front depicting a bear and a mug of beer. The sign was engraved with the words 'Public Safe House' I walked up to the door and knocked, but didn't hear a sound. I tried the doorknob and it was unlocked and I walked in.
No one was inside but the room was warm and inviting, I saw a barrel in the corner of the room and ran over to it hoping to see fresh water. I open the barrel and it's filled to the top with the cleanest water I had ever seen. I cup my hands and take many drinks from the clean refreshing water. Who built this? I must thank this wonderful person. I haven't felt this safe and comfortable since before I lost my parents, when I was just a boy.
I sit on one of the beds in the room to rest my legs, it's so comfortable. Heavenly compared to the rocky grass I slept on last night, My back still hurts.
Maybe I should lay down for just a moment..
